Gods of Astral
A pantheon that is made up of:
among the Deities of Good, you have the following:
-Cayden Cailean, the Drunken Hero, CG god of bravery, alcohol and freedom. Once a mortal adventurer who got $#!+-faced drunk one night, and woke up three days later as a god after passing the Test of the Starstone. To this day, he’s not sure how he managed it.
-Desna, the Song of the Spheres, CG goddess of dreams, luck, stars and travelers. All about wandering across Golarion, doing good.
-Erastil, Old Deadeye, LG god of family, farming, hunting and trade. Rather old-fashioned and a bit chauvinistic. Essentially the patron deity of Amish people or Rednecks.
-Iomedae, the Inheritor, LG goddess of honor, justice, rulership and valor. Once Aroden’s herald, upon his death she took the test of the starstone, became a goddess and inherited most of his followers. Think Joan of Arc as a deity.
-Sarenrae, the Dawnflower, LG goddess of healing, honesty, redemption and the sun. Favored in Golarion’s Middle-East equivalent, Sarenrae is probably the most clichéd “Goddess of Light” concept you can find in Golarion.
-Shelyn, NG goddess of art, beauty, love and music. All about adding beauty and romance to the world, and to stand in opposition to her fallen half-brother, now known as Zon-Kuthon (described below).
-Torag, LG god of the forge, protection and strategy. You know Moradin, the classic D&D Dwarf Patron God? Torag’s the same guy. Seriously, there’s barely any attempt at hiding it.
Gods of Balance include:
-Abadar, Master of the First Vault, LN god of cities, laws, merchants and wealth. All about the march of civilization, his clergy’s temples also serve as banks and government offices.
-Calistria, the Savored Sting, CN goddess of revenge, lust and trickery. Both a thrill-seeking hedonist and someone you don’t want pissed at you, Calistria’s clergy can usually be found in the sex trade.
-Gorum, Our Lord in Iron, CN god of battle, strength and weapons. The War God. Said to have been born from the first battles between Man and Orc, Gorum loves battle. He doesn’t care about what cause you’re fighting for, or with what weapons and tactics. He just cares about the fighting. And will eagerly answer prayers from both sides of a conflict.
-Gozreh, the Wind and the Waves, N god of nature, the sea, and weather. The most predominant nature god of Golarion. Has a male aspect (sky-god) and a female aspect (sea-goddess), and doesn’t care much for civilization.
-Irori, Master of Masters, LN god of history, knowledge, and self-perfection. A Monk who achieved deity through self-perfection, his teachings are about perfecting yourself mentally, spiritually and physically.
-Nethys, the All-Seeing Eye, N god of magic. A bipolar deity who’s constantly at war with himself, being both a destroyer and a healer.
-Pharasma, the Lady of Graves, goddess of birth, death, fate, and prophecy. A midwife, a prophet, a reaper and a judge of the dead all at the same time, Pharasma is about death as part of the cycle of life. She also hates the Undead.
Gods of Corruption include:
-Asmodeus, Prince of Darkness, LE god of contracts, pride, slavery, and tyranny. Also the Lord of Hell. Basically, his vision for all of creation is a flaming Hoof stomping on a humanoid face for all Eternity.
-Lamasthu, Mother of Monsters, CE goddess of madness, monsters, and nightmares. Her title isn’t symbolic. Lamashtu has literally given birth to countless monsters, from Gnolls to Chimera. She is also the Demon Queen, being as close to an absolute ruler of the Abyss as you can get.
-Norgorber, the Reaper of Reputation (and many more names), NE god of greed, murder, poison and secrets. A very secretive deity, he erased his own history when he ascended as a god, and is now mostly known by various aliases, like the Reaper of Reputation, the Gray Master, Blackfingers or Father Skinsaw.
-Rovagug, the Rough Beast, CE god of destruction, disaster, and wrath. Basically the Beast of the Apocalypse, imprisoned at the heart of the world.
-Urgathoa, the Pallid Princess, NE goddess of disease, gluttony, and undeath. A mortal who didn’t want to die, and became the first Undead in the process. Her followers seek immortality through undeath, to continue enjoying an eternity of pleasures.
-Zon-Kuthon, the Midnight Lord, LE god of darkness, envy, loss, and pain. Once a benevolent deity, he has become a twisted deity of darkness and pain. Think Pinhead from Hellraiser. Interestingly, although there’s no direct link between him and the Kytons (formerly Chain Devils), they do make perfect sense as servants of Zon-Kuthon.
